This care course provides background to the MCA and its relationship to DOLS and how those working within the care sector can ensure compliance whilst carrying out their job role. This course covers all the skills and knowledge to safely carry out venepuncture. Although there will be opportunities to practice on a model, the candidate will have to undergo supervised practice in a clinical setting to be confirmed as competent. It is the responsibility of the learner to ensure they have their competencies signed before practicing independently.

PRESSURE ULCER PREVENTION

The aim of this module is to enable learners to obtain detailed knowledge of pressure ulcer management, including identifying the main causes of pressure ulcers, as well as the most effective means of preventing them and, if necessary, treating them. Acute and Community Versions Available.

DRUGS AND ALCOHOL AWARENESS

Minimise the risk to your business from drug use and dealing by ensuring your staff can spot trouble before it happens. After training your staff will be able to spot the signs of drug use and behaviour that could indicate dealing. They’ll also learn how to handle it to minimise the risk to your business. The course looks at everything from drug classification to spotting the effects of drug use on people and is designed for everyone at all levels.

This one day course is not just aimed at Reablement workers but is useful for those carers who may take over the care of some partially reabled clients who will need to maintain the gains by knowing when to ‘do for’ and when to ‘do with’.

LEGIONNAIRES DISEASE

On completion, learners will have an increased understanding of Legionnaires’ disease, including the potential consequences of an outbreak and the symptoms associated with the disease. The module also provides information on the relevant legislation and requirements for compliance.

FALLS PREVENTION

This course will enable you to implement the Falls related aspects of the National Service Framework for Older People. The course is relevant to everyone who cares for an elderly person professionally or voluntarily. Attendance on this course may help reduce the 1500 deaths each year from falling.

ACUTE AND CHRONIC WOUND HEALING

This course will provide you with an understanding of the differences between acute and chronic wounds and changes within the wound healing process. You will explore what wounds become chronic and why. Using the wound healing continuum you will learn about specific tissue types involved and the management of chronic wounds.

This module will help you to think about restraint: what it means for you and what it might mean to others, and some ideas that could help your practice.
